Anna Paquin
Anna Paquin was born in the city of Winnipeg, but was raised in Wellington. She began her acting career as Flora McGrath in romantic drama film The Piano. Paquin is a native of Winnipeg and grew up in Wellington and made her debut as Flora McGrath when she played the role of Flora McGrath in The Piano. When she answered an open call for auditions and was selected for the part, she performed in the role of Flora McGrath, the daughter of a muted Scottish piano player who relocates to New Zealand in mid-19th-century to marry. At the time, she was nineteen and did not have any performing experience. As a teenager she emigrated into the United States. Paquin had the role of lead in Fly Away Home in 1996 and was also in a smaller role in the film as Jane Eyre at the time she was only a child. Paquin appeared as Frankie Addams in a 1997 television movie adaptation of Carson McCullers's novel The Member of the Wedding as well as a small role as the queen of Spain in Steven Spielberg's Amistad (1997). She played teenage characters in of Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000), A Walk on the Moon (2000) and played Polexia Aphrodisa the groupie of Almost Famous (2000).
