Dolly-Parton

born on January. 19th, 1946, in Locust Ridge Tenn into a poor family that would eventually consist of 12 children Dolly Parton learned early to get away from the struggles of life through her vivid and far-ranging imagination. Her songs were written before she could write and read. The guitar that she first received was presented to her at the age of eighteen. The singer began her singing career at the Knoxville Tenn station by the age of 11. The same year she released her first recording on Gold Band Records a tiny independent label. Her name was made in the local scene while at high school, but always dreamed of having a bigger stage. When she graduated from the high school in 1964, she moved immediately to Nashville. Dumb Blonde (both 1967) and Something Fishy were among her first Monument Records chart-topping records. Around this time, Porter Wagoner was looking for an actress to sing for his television show that was syndicated. Parton joined RCA Records and then joined the Grand Ole Opry. She took on the role in 1967. She left Wagoner's show, but in 1974, because her solo albums like Joshua Coat Of Many Colors and Jolene outsold their collaborations.
